COVER YOUR COVID

By HPRS Race Director John Lacroix

On Friday, April 3, 2020, Colorado Governor Jared Polis asked all Coloradans to wear a fabric mask when leaving their home. “Research shows that DIY masks can help block the spread of COVID-19, especially by preventing people who are asymptomatically infected from spreading the disease unknowingly. That’s why government officials—including Governor Jared Polis—are recommending their widespread use. However, given the current mask shortages impacting medical professionals, it’s essential that the general public leaves the supply of N95 medical masks to healthcare workers.” (https://www.coloradomaskproject.com/)

For many years now we have provided our community of runners with multifunctional neck scarfs (aka. Buffs, Bluffs, etc). These pieces of clothing have been handed out to our many yearly paying HPRS members, and most recently to every runner who attends an HPRS race. There are currently 5 different versions of the HPRS Bluff that have been distributed to our community, and at this time I am asking you to PLEASE WEAR THEM. I am asking our entire community of runners, regardless of where you live, to do your part in preventing the spread of COVID-19. The sooner we can defeat this invisible enemy, the sooner we all can get back to doing what we love to do.. RUN TOGETHER.

19 COMP ENTRIES

Not only am I asking you to wear your HPRS Brand Bluffs, I would love to award some of you for doing so. Together we can have a huge impact on limiting the spread of COVID-19. If you post a photo or video of yourself wearing your HPRS Brand Bluff through April 30th and use the hashtags #HPRS #HPRunningSeries (Colorado residents are also encourage to use #DoingMyPartCO), you will automatically be entered into our raffle to give away 19 comp race entries through April 30th. Nineteen of you will win a complimentary race entry to an HPRS event of your choice, redeemable anytime through 2022.

These are unprecedented times. Regardless of what side of the pandemic your opinion lies, I am asking you to please do your part to help us get back to normal quicker. By following the recommendations of our leaders, we can get back to seeing sunrises from the mountaintops and being stuck in aid stations, faster. Let’s get back to facing the fun kind of #Adversity instead of the COVID Adversity. Let’s show our villages that the HPRS Community is one that moves mountains together. So move them. We love you.
