**BIG CHANGES TO SILVERHEELS** In 2024, HPRS introduced a newly revamped Silverheels Trail Runs experience. Traditionally the Silverheels 100-Mile was held in concert with The Last Call Fifties (50-Mile & 55k), and on the same weekend. We made the decision to move on from the “Last Call” name except for it’s attribution to the 50-Mile. Moving forward this event is known as The Silverheels Trail Runs. We moved our main event location out of Fairplay and into the tiny town of Como. We added shorter distances with a 10-Mile and 19-Mile option. The 55k is now a 60k. The 100-Mile now starts on the other side of Kenosha Pass. We also added a 100k adventure to coincide with day 1 of the 100-mile on Friday. With these changes we welcomed over 240 runners to the event in 2024 making it one of our largest Colorado events ever. Details on this webpage offer the most up to date information about the entire event.

The Silverheels Trail Runs take place at an average elevation of over 10,000’, in one of the most visually stunning areas of Colorado’s Front Range. The course features a mixture of single track trails and fire roads, with a few stretches of dirt road; it takes runners through high alpine and sub-alpine meadows loaded with wild flowers, championed by expansive views of the South Park Valley and on a clear day at least 19 different Colorado 14ers. You’ll run through ghost towns, past abandoned mines, awe at the wildflowers in full bloom, and dance under the watchful eye of Silverheels Mountain herself and the ever stunning Milky Way Galaxy. Our 10-Mile and 18-Mile options are run on the gorgeous Gold Dust Trail traveling through massive aspen groves, over many high mountain creeks, through old mining encampments, and along a miners ditch hand dug by those in the late 1800s.

Camping is NOT included in the price of entry.ᅠA camping reservation is only required for those camping in a tent, and not needed for those sleeping in a car or camper van. No roof top tents or trailers of any kind please!

The $20 guarantees you and your family a camping space. A porta potty will be available at the campsite for your use. There will be no running water on site. HPRS is not responsible for the safety and/or security of your personal belongings while you occupy this site or while you run the race. While chance of theft or vandalism is low, we cannot make any guarantees.

A portion of the proceeds from camping goes directly to The South Park Rail Society, a local non-profit that benefits the preservation of the areas rich rail heritage. If you do not purchase your tent site during the registration process, you can reserve a space later byᅠCLICKING HERE.

100-Mile QUALIFYING STANDARDS: THIS REQUIREMENT IS FOR 100-MILE RUNNERS ONLY! Please note that the Silverheels 100-Mile Endurance Run is a high altitude, mountain/alpine, running adventure that many consider to be a “varsity level 100-miler.” Many who have joined us at Silverheels have used it as their first 100-Mile, and many who have joined us are grizzled 100-mile veterans, but it is not recommended as a “first ever ultra.” The run is hard but not impossible, and due to the many variables that contribute to the event’s level of difficulty and our focus on risk management, we require all 100-Mile entrants to qualify for participation by completing the following: Previous completion of any official ultramarathon of at least 100-Miles in length at any time; or complete any official ultramarathon of 50-Miles in length or longer between January 1, 2024 and May 31, 2025.

100k QUALIFYING STANDARDS: THIS REQUIREMENT IS FOR 100k RUNNERS ONLY! Please note that the Silverheels 100k is a high altitude, mountain/alpine, running adventure. The 100k is not a suitable "first ever ultra." The run is of course challenging but not impossible, and due to the many variables that contribute to this event's level of risk, and our focus on risk management, we require all 100km entrants to qualify for participation by completing the following: complete any official ultramarathon of 50-Miles in length or longer between January 1, 2023 and May 31, 2025.

We welcome you to choose your qualifying race on your own accord, as we do not maintain a list of qualifying races, though there are specifications about what you can and cannot use as a qualifier.

Your qualifying run cannot be virtual, a Fat Ass, a "journey run" (like R2R2R or Nolan's 14), or any other "unofficial" run. It must be an official race. What is an "official race?" An official race is fully permitted with all associated land managers and has an official time cut-off, a website, and typically utilizes an online registration platform for collecting entry fees (like Ultrasignup.com or Runsignup.com, though signing up in person is acceptable). You must be listed as an official finisher within the race's posted results, which in today's day-in-age need to be available publicly online.

You will be asked for your qualification info during registration. Simply include proof of posted results via link to the website where they are held. The provided information will be verified by Human Potential in order to complete your registration. Those who register without providing qualifying information, or who provide false or incomplete qualifying information, will be removed from the entrants list and have all but $40 of your entry fee refunded.

100-MILE RUNNER VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT: This requirement is for 100-mile runners ONLY. Eight (8) hours of volunteer work is required for each participant prior to the event.

All eight (8) hours must be completed while either performing trail construction or maintenance, or as a race volunteer at any official ultramarathon. The eight (8) hours of service must be certified by a representative from the organization you volunteered with. The eight (8) hours does NOT need to be with HPRS. The volunteer service must be performed between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024. Please download and complete the form below; it must be submitted by 11:59:59pm on July 1, 2024.

Those who choose not to complete the 8-hours of volunteer work may "Buy-Out" of this requirement during the registration process by paying an additional fee of $150.

Those who do not submit their Volunteer Service Requirement Form by July 1st, will be required to go the buy-out route for entry into the event.

The start line for the 100-Mile and 100km distances is at a location DIFFERENT from the start line of all other distances associated with this event.

The start line of these two distances will be at the Burning Bear Trailhead #601 on Geneva Road in Grant, CO. It is a 24 Mile (35 minutes) drive from the Como Roundhouse (finish line) to the start line location.

WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE runners to plan to have a friend and/or family member bring you to the start line of the event on race morning. This can be a member of your crew (if you have one), someone you ask to help you with this transport specifically (they may camp with us at the Start/Finish), via carpool with another runner's shuttle, -or-...

We will have limited space on a shuttle that will transport you to the start line from Como Roundhouse on race morning. The race morning shuttle will cost $25 (+ taxes and fees), and given the limited space it is first come-first served. The shuttle live leave Como Roundhouse at 3:00am SHARP. Once we fill shuttle spots, you will be required to find your own ride to the start line. We will open purchasing of the shuttle spots on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 9am. An email will be sent to registered runners at that time with purchase instructions.

Parking at the Start: There is no parking on the road at or near the start line. There is a main trailhead parking lot BUT WE ARE NOT PERMITTED TO ALLOW RACE RELATED CARS TO PARK THERE for any extended period of time. This is to say, you may NOT park your car at the start and leave it there for the duration of your run.  It is your responsibility to find a way to the start. Again, you will have an opportunity to buy a bus ticket to the start as the event approaches. There are also other runners heading that way you may negotiate a ride with.

Select HPRS events allow a mid-race drop down in distance, where you will still receive a finisher's award and have your finish time in the results, in the event that you bit off more than you can chew.

Any runner who starts the 100-Mile may drop down to the 100k at the Tarryall 1 Aid Station location (1st time through); and should you complete the remainder of the 100k you will receive a finisher's award, as well as their time in the 100k results. 100-Mile runners wishing to drop to the 100k at Tarryall 1 will need to make it to that station prior to the 100k cut-off for that location.

Any runner who starts the 50-Mile may drop down to the 60k at the Poor Man's 1 Aid Station location (1st time through); and should you complete the remainder of the 60k you will receive a finisher's award, as well as your time in the 60k results. 50-Mile runners wishing to drop to the 60k at Poor Man's 1 will need to make it to that station prior to the 60k cut-off for that location.

Any runner who starts the 19-Mile may drop down to the 10-Mile at the Tarryall 1 Aid Station location (1st time through); and should you complete the remainder of the 10-Mile you will receive a finisher's award, as well as your time in the 10-Mile results. 19-Mile runners wishing to drop to the 10-Mile at Tarryall 1 will need to make it to that station prior to the 10-Mile cut-off for that location.

There is no drop down option for the 100k, 60k, or 10-Mile distances; meaning, you must finish the distance you start.

There are no refunds or credits, full or partial, for the difference in distance dropped to. HPRS supports responsible risk management decisions of our runners to call it a day if the challenge is more than you're feeling up to. Live to run another day!

Please pay attention to the race check-in schedule below:

You MAY have another vehicle park in town and shuttle additional crew/spectators in to the event on your own accord, only one vehicle with your crew placard will be allowed at designated aid stations.

The trailheads in the area are small, and border a number of private properties that folks use as mountain homes. We are dedicated to limiting our impact on the resource, and our neighbors, in order to preserve the future of this event. Crews and Spectators are welcome at designated locations ONLY. Please see the aid station chart (button above).

See the aid station chart (button above) for more info. Pacers are not permitted for the 60k, 19-Mile or 10-Mile.

Participants in the 100-Mile and 100k are allowed to have a drop bag at the following aid stations: Michigan Creek, French Gulch, Tarryall 1 & 2, Crooked Creek 1 & 2, and Poor Man's 1 & 2. Drop bags should be dropped off on Thursday Night if at all possible, but will be accepted up to 15 minutes prior to race start at the Start line. See the aid station chart for more info.

All official 100-Mile finishers will receive a Silverheels 100 Belt Buckle. Finisher's of all other distances will receive a finisher's medal. We’ll also present special awards to DFL and our Transcendence Award.

HPRS does not have a podium or age group awards, please see our Awards Page for more details.
