Tommyknocker 12-Hour & Mine Shaft Half UPDATE

I hope that this finds you and yours in good health and positive spirits during this unprecedented time. I’m thinking about all of you, wishing for the best, and can’t wait for us all to return to some sense of normalcy. I want to let you all know that HPRS will be here when it’s time, and all of our races will become an integral part to bringing community and belonging back to our lives. I’m excited about the future, and the opportunities we’ll all have to maintain our healthy lifestyles, to do good work on ourselves, and to continue to move in that one direction we ultrarunners know.. FORWARD.

I wanted to take a moment to update everyone on where we’re at for our 2020 Calendar of races, most importantly our next big event: The Tommyknocker 12-Hour and Mine Shaft Half. I thank you all for your continued patience and support as I work to navigate this unique situation.

The Tommyknocker 12-Hour and Mine Shaft Half Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, May 9th, 2020 in Golden, CO. At this time I have no intentions of canceling the event, though I am starting to ponder the idea of postponing the event to a later date. Therefore, I have closed registration for Tommyknocker despite 8 spots remaining open, and have moved to a wait list for this event. If you want to run on the scheduled date, I ask that you add your name to the wait list. No money will be charged at this time. Should the event happen as scheduled, you will receive an invite to complete your registration closer to the day, and should you accept the invite you will be charged then.

In the event of postponement: We will follow similar guidelines to the postponement of this event in 2019. If you can make the new date, you will do nothing and show up on race day with your spot guaranteed. If you cannot make the new date or wish to no longer run, I will have a plan in place to offer either partial credits, a deferral, or both. Again, at this time.. there is no plan to postpone though it is looking more likely a possibility.

The situation both nationally, and locally, continues to remain fluid. I am closely following all directives of the CDC, the Federal Government, and the State of Colorado. My decision to host this event as scheduled, or postpone, will be based on the most up to date information and directives from these entities. Your health and safety is my utmost priority. Not just for our runners, staff, and volunteers, but for their families as well. It is my intention to make a call on this event no later than April 28th.

All other events on our calendar are planned as scheduled and registration for them remains open at this time. Should the need arise, I will make adjustments as necessary. I am working on a virtual series that I will announce on Sunday (3/22), in the hopes of keeping you all moving FORWARD during this trying time. Please stay tuned.

I wish you all the very best during this trying time. Our world is forever changed by what we’re experiencing. We all could use compassion, empathy, understanding, and support while we try and navigate this unprecedented situation.
