Tommyknocker 12-Hour & Mine Shaft Half Postponed

I have decided in partnership with our permitting land manager, Jefferson County Open Space, that the best course of action is to postpone the date of the 2020 Tommyknocker 12-Hour and Mine Shaft Half to Saturday, October 3rd.

While I share in the enthusiasm of many others that life will soon begin to return to a new normal, we all need to take a collective deep breath and realize that our new normal will not happen all at once. I have made every effort to try and host our race as scheduled on its original date. At this time I cannot fulfill my duties as a race director in ensuring the health and safety of all involved should the event happen as originally scheduled.

Registered Runners Have The Following Options:
  • Stay registered for Tommyknocker/Mine Shaft 2020 to be held on October 3rd (No Action Required)
  • Receive a 100% transfer credit/deferral towards Tommyknocker/Mine Shaft 2021 (Email Required)
  • Receive a 75% transfer credit towards any of our other races through November 30, 2022 (Email Required)
  • Withdraw from the event, but allow HPRS to retain your registration fees as a donation towards the preservation of our small business. (Email Required)

Anyone wishing to take advantage of options 2 or 3 will need to email info@HumanPotentialRunning.com with your decision BEFORE 12:00am ON JUNE 1ST. I will take care of you on the back end of Ultrasignup in accordance with your decision. No response is necessary for those wishing to stay in the event for October 3rd. All decisions will be final as of 12:00am June 1, 2020.

On June 1st, our standard refund and credit policies will return to normal status for this event. Meaning, anyone wishing to withdraw from the event from June 1st or later will be subject to all regular HPRS refund and credit policies. There will be no exceptions despite the circumstances.

I will begin extending invites to runners on the wait list for this event on June 1st. Runners will be invited in the order they were entered to the wait list. They will each have 24-hours to respond to their invite to complete registration for the new October 3rd date, before I move on to the next on the list and in affect losing their spot.

Registration will be reopened for the October 3rd running of this event on June 15th at the last tier pricing. Should the event be sold out, we’ll be accepting runners to the wait list. If space is available, we will accept registrations until filled, and then return to a wait list. Should the October 3rd date be cancelled for any reason, additional guidance will be provided at that time.

I continue to remain hopeful about returning to hosting our calendar of events starting with The South Park Trail Marathon & Half scheduled for Saturday, June 6th in Fairplay, CO. I invite everyone to join us for our next virtual series being held through most of the month of May. (https://humanpotentialrunning.com/races/)

NEXT VIRTUAL SERIES SET FOR MAY

I also want to bring your attention to the new virtual series I have created for the month of May. This next iteration of virtual running is being provided as a way for anyone to acquire and share knowledge about the sport of ultramarathon running. For the 4 weeks in May, our series will feature an education theme designed to help aspiring and veteran ultrarunners a like. We’ll have weekly online seminars that teaches the many facets of ultrarunning, and an engaging community of runners who will also share their vast knowledge of the sport. The event costs just $30 and will culminate with a virtual race on the weekend of May 30th. CLICK HERE for more info and to join us!

I want to thank our community of runners for their patience and support during this trying time. I, like you, cannot wait to get back to being together on the trails. The sport of trail and ultra running will look different when we get back to it. There will be a new normal that has to be implemented to ensure the continued health and safety of runners, volunteers, local communities, and the preservation of our sport as we know it. I thank you in advance for your continued patience and support and want you to know that I am here for you also. We encourage our entire community of runners to continue to move in that one direction we all know… FORWARD.

We love you.
