**BIG CHANGES TO SILVERHEELS** HPRS continues to work in earnest on a newly revamped Silverheels Trail Runs experience. Traditionally the Silverheels 100-Mile was held in concert with The Last Call Fifties, and on the same weekend. We made the decision to move on from the “Last Call” name except for it’s attribution to the 50-Mile. Moving forward this event is known as The Silverheels Trail Runs. We are moving our main location out of Fairplay and into the tiny town of Como. We are adding shorter distances with a 10-Mile and 18-Mile option. The 55k is now a 60k. The 100-Mile is now going to start at Kenosha Pass, and include portions of the Colorado Trail and the Continental Divide Trail. The 100-Mile will now also include more time at or above 12,000′ in elevation with multiple 13ers on course. We are also adding a 100k adventure to coincide with day 1 of the 100-mile on Saturday. To learn more about the revamped Silverheels experience CLICK HERE.

The Silverheels Trail Runs take place at an average elevation of over 10,000’, in one of the most visually stunning areas of Colorado’s Front Range. The course features a mixture of single track trails and fire roads, with a few stretches of dirt road; it takes runners through high alpine and sub-alpine meadows loaded with wild flowers, championed by expansive views of the South Park Valley and on a clear day at least 19 different Colorado 14ers. You’ll run through ghost towns, past abandoned mines, awe at the wildflowers in full bloom, and dance under the watchful eye of Silverheels Mountain herself and the ever stunning Milky Way Galaxy. Our 10-Mile and 18-Mile options are run on the gorgeous Gold Dust Trail traveling through massive aspen groves, over many high mountain creeks, through old mining encampments, and along a miners ditch hand dug by those in the late 1800s.

Entry Fees

In order to run the Silverheels 100-Mile Endurance Run, all participants must meet our Qualifying Standards and complete 8-Hours of Volunteer Service as conditions of entry. These conditions are non-negotiable and are detailed below. There are no qualifying standards set for any distance shorter than 100-Miles.

CAMPING: Looking for camping near the Start/Finish of the Silverheels Trail Runs? HPRS has ya covered! We have secured a parcel of land for camping on race weekend. A campsite is $20 for the weekend, benefiting The South Park Rail Society. You may check-in any time after 12pm on Thursday July 11th.

Camping is NOT included in the price of entry.ᅠA camping reservation is only required for those camping in a tent, and not needed for those sleeping in a car or camper van. No roof top tents or trailers of any kind please!

The $20 guarantees you and your family a camping space. A porta potty will be available at the campsite for your use. There will be no running water on site. HPRS is not responsible for the safety and/or security of your personal belongings while you occupy this site or while you run the race. While chance of theft or vandalism is low, we cannot make any guarantees.

A portion of the proceeds from camping goes directly to The South Park Rail Society, a local non-profit that benefits the preservation of the areas rich rail heritage. If you do not purchase your tent site during the registration process, you can reserve a space later byᅠCLICKING HERE.

QUALIFYING STANDARDS: THIS REQUIREMENT IS FOR 100-MILE RUNNERS ONLY! Please note that the Silverheels 100-Mile Endurance Run is a high altitude, mountain/alpine, running adventure. Many who have joined us at Silverheels have used it as their first 100-Mile, and many who have joined us are grizzled 100-mile veterans, but it is not a suitable "first ever ultra." The run is of course challenging but not impossible, and due to the many variables that contribute to this event's level of risk, and our focus on risk management, we require all entrants to qualify for registration by completing the following: Previous completion of any official ultramarathon of at least 100-Miles in length at any time; or complete any official ultramarathon of 50-Miles in length or longer between July 8, 2023 and May 31, 2024.

We welcome you to choose your qualifying race on your own accord, as we do not maintain a list of qualifying races, though there are specifications about what you can and cannot use as a qualifier. NOTE: We will NOT accept UTMB owned events as a qualifier (See below).

Your qualifying run cannot be virtual, a Fat Ass, a "journey run" (like R2R2R or Nolan's 14), or any other "unofficial" run. It must be an official race. What is an "official race?" An official race is fully permitted with all associated land managers and has an official time cut-off, a website, and typically utilizes an online registration platform for collecting entry fees (like Ultrasignup.com or Runsignup.com, though signing up in person is acceptable). You must be listed as an official finisher within the race's posted results, which in today's day-in-age need to be available publicly online.

You will be asked for your qualification info during registration. Simply include proof of posted results via link to the website where they are held. The provided information will be verified by Human Potential in order to complete your registration. Those who register without providing qualifying information, or who provide false or incomplete qualifying information, will be removed from the entrants list and have all but $40 of your entry fee refunded.

Why No UTMB Events?: Our colleagues at the High Lonesome 100-Mile said it best, so this is copied and pasted directly from their website "Due to the UTMB Group’s partnership with Ironman, we no longer feel that their company reflects the values that we hold dear. Additionally, they consistently fail to take action on key needs in the sport, namely around gender equity, pregnancy deferrals, and transgender/non-binary entries. For a race with millions of dollars and platform at the top of our sport, they continually demonstrate that their priorities lay elsewhere. As such, we have chosen to remove UTMB Group owned races as qualifiers and encourage runners to seek out races that prioritize the community, sport, and environment instead of those whose objective is maximizing revenue."

100-MILE RUNNER VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT: This requirement is for 100-mile runners ONLY. Eight (8) hours of volunteer work is required for each participant prior to the event.

All eight (8) hours must be completed while either performing trail construction or maintenance, or as a race volunteer at any official ultramarathon. The eight (8) hours of service must be certified by a representative from the organization you volunteered with. The eight (8) hours does NOT need to be with HPRS. The volunteer service must be performed between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024. Please download and complete the form below; it must be submitted by 11:59:59pm on July 1, 2024.

Those who choose not to complete the 8-hours of volunteer work may "Buy-Out" of this requirement during the registration process by paying an additional fee of $150.

Those who do not submit their Volunteer Service Requirement Form by July 1st, will be required to go the buy-out route for entry into the event.

Volunteer Service Requirement Form (<Click Here to Download Form)

Select HPRS events allow a mid-race drop down in distance, where you will still receive a finisher's award and have your finish time in the results, in the event that you bit off more than you can chew.

Any runner who starts the 100-Mile may drop down to the 100k at the Tarryall 1 Aid Station location (1st time through); and should you complete the remainder of the 100k you will receive a finisher's award, as well as their time in the 100k results.

Any runner who starts the 50-Mile may drop down to the 60k at the Poor Man's 1 Aid Station location (1st time through); and should you complete the remainder of the 60k you will receive a finisher's award, as well as your time in the 60k results.

Any runner who starts the 18-Mile may drop down to the 10-Mile at the Tarryall 1 Aid Station location (1st time through); and should you complete the remainder of the 10-Mile you will receive a finisher's award, as well as your time in the 10-Mile results.

There is no drop down option for the 100k, 60k, or 10-Mile distances; meaning, you must finish the distance you start.

There are no refunds or credits, full or partial, for the difference in distance dropped to. HPRS supports responsible risk management decisions of our runners to call it a day if the challenge is more than you're feeling up to. Live to run another day!

A NOTE ON CREWS/SPECTATORS: Crews are welcome for 50-Mile, 100k, and 100-Mile Runners ONLY. We welcome crews/spectators but ask that you LIMIT the number of vehicles those crews and spectators come in. Each runner is allowed ONE crew/spectator vehicle at crew designated aid stations. A crew parking pass will be provided at check-in. You MAY have another vehicle park in town and shuttle additional crew/spectators in to the event on your own accord.

The trailheads in the area are small, and border a number of private properties that folks use as mountain homes. We are dedicated to limiting our impact on the resource, and our neighbors, in order to preserve the future of this event. Crews and Spectators are welcome at designated locations ONLY. Please see the aid station chart (button above).

PACERS: Only 100-Mile, 100k, and 50-Mile runners are allowed a pacer. You are allowed one (1) pacer at a time. They can jump in/switch out at Tarryall 1 & 2, Crooked Creek 1 & 2, Poor Man's 1 & 2. See the aid station chart (button above) for more info. Pacers are not permitted for the 60k, 18-Mile or 10-Mile.

Participants in the 100-Mile and 100k are allowed to have a drop bag at the following aid stations: Michigan Creek, French Gulch, Tarryall 1 & 2, Crooked Creek 1 & 2, and Poor Man's 1 & 2. Drop bags should be dropped off on Thursday Night if at all possible, but will be accepted up to 15 minutes prior to race start at the Start line. See the aid station chart for more info.

Participants in the 50-Mile and 60k may have a drop bag at Tarryall 1 & 2, Crooked Creek 1 & 2, and Poor Man's 1 & 2.

Please leave nothing of value in your bag. Do not leave your drop bag behind. All abandoned drop bags are disposed of immediately at the conclusion of the event.

All participants and spectators must park at the designated parking locations ONLY. A map of these areas will be available closer to the race.

All official 100-Mile finishers will receive a Silverheels 100 Belt Buckle. Finisher's of all other distances will receive a finisher's medal. We’ll also present special awards to DFL and our Transcendence Award.

HPRS does not have a podium or age group awards, please see our Awards Page for more details.

NO AWARDS WILL BE MAILED

This event is being held in accordance with permits from the U.S. Forest Service, Pike National Forest – South Park Ranger District and White River Ranger District (pending), Park County, and permission from our local private land owners. We ask that you please respect and care for the land this event is held on to help ensure the future of this race and to limit our environmental impact.

NOT A REQUIREMENT - JUST A FUN ADD ON

"Last Call" 50-Mile Runners may purchase a commemorative shot glass at time of purchase. This is only available to 50-Mile runners.

HPRS will pour whiskey shots to those (21+) who wish to imbibe at 11:45pm on Saturday Night. We toast and then the shot is taken right away. Taking a shot of whiskey prior to race start is not required.

Everyone will receive their shot glass at check-in. Those wishing to enjoy the shot will bring their shot glass to the start line at 11:45pm. We will hang on to your glass and give it back to you upon your finish.

Any additional event information, changes, and updates will be sent to registered entrants ONLY via e-mail communication.
