The 1st Annual Rainbow Trail Endurance Runs

In November 2008, HPRS RD “Sherpa” John Lacroix directed the first 200-Mile Ultramarathon in the Western Hemisphere. The New England Ultras featured 200, 100, and 50 mile distances on a multi-loop course in Pittsfield, VT. The race was a part of the Peak Races and was passed on to fellow Peak RD Andy Weinberg. The New England Ultras was then turned into the “McNaughton in Vermont” Ultras featuring 500, 200, 150, 100 and 50 Mile Distances on the same route as the New England Ultras. Now, “Sherpa” John is back directing another 200 miler right here in Colorado.
This out and back event will start and finish near Poncha Springs on the eastern slope of the Sangre De Cristo mountain range in Southern Colorado. Runners will run a 100 mile out and back on the Rainbow Trail.
Start Date: Wednesday, May 31st @ 8:00am
Time Limit: 100 Hours (4 Days 12 Hours)
Price: Early Bird = $400 | Later = $500
This out and back event will start and finish near Poncha Springs on the eastern slope of the Sangre De Cristo mountain range in Southern Colorado. Runners will head south for 75 miles before turning around and heading back to the finish.
Start Date: Friday, June 2nd @ 4:00am
Time Limit: 60 Hours
Price: Early Bird = $325 | Later = $375
This point-to-point event will start at the Southern Terminus of the Rainbow Trail. Runners will then head north towards Poncha Springs, CO.
Start Date: Saturday, June 3rd @ 4:00am
Time Limit: 38 Hours
Price: Early Bird = $250 | Later = $300
Awards: All Finishers will each receive a custom belt buckle with their respective distance signified proudly in the design.
