The Indian Creek Trail Runs is the oldest official race of HPRS and is also known as our annual “Fall Classic.” This event features some of the best, seldom used, single track trails of the Denver Metro area. Participants will travel through the lower and upper montane ecosystems of the Front Range; from the lodgepole pine forest around 6,000-8,000′ sprinkled with sprawling aspen groves, down to the tall grasses and red rocks of the lower montane areas around 5,000′. This time of year is known for the changing colors across Colorado’s landscape. From golden quaking aspen, to the bright red hues of low lying scrub oak, and the amber waves of tall grasses of America’s high prairie.

You’ll find it hard to believe that you’re so close to a major city, one that you can see from the many viewpoints along the route. While you admire glimpses of the city, you’ll also see the same red rock formations that make up the Red Rocks Amphitheater, and occasional glimpses of nearby 14ers that tower above the Colorado landscape.

In Colorado, significant snows can happen during this time of year. In the event of a major snow storm (5″ or more on the ground) we are required by our permit to move the race to our snow date of Saturday, October 19th. If upon moving our date you can no longer attend, you will receive a partial credit (expiring on 10/19/2025) good towards any one of our other races. In the event that our event is outright cancelled due to inclement weather on our snow date, we will provide remaining participants with the same partial credit. This partial credit will be based on the expenses incurred per runner in order to host the event. It should be noted that in this events history we have never postponed or cancelled due to snow.

It’s Halloween! Wear your favorite costume. The best costume will win a free race entry and a bottle of wine!

Select HPRS events allow a mid-race drop down in distance, where you will still receive a finisher's award and have your finish time in the results, in the event that you bit off more than you can chew.

Any runner who starts the 55k may drop down at the 15-Mile point of their run and receive a finisher's award, as well as their time in the 15-Mile results.

Any runner who starts the 50-Mile may drop down at the 55k point of their run and receive a finisher's award, as well as their time in the 55k results.

There is no drop down option for the 5-Mile or 15-Mile distances; meaning, you must finish the distance you start.

There are no refunds or credits, full or partial, for the difference in distance dropped to. HPRS supports responsible risk management decisions of our runners to call it a day if the challenge is more than you're feeling up to. Live to run another day!
